Context

YachtDetailing Crew is a concept for a marine surface-care specialist — ceramic coating, teak restoration and detailing for yachts. Rather than a typical services list, the site treats the yacht's own surfaces (hull, teak, metal, glass) as the actual subject, letting a visitor inspect and interact with each one.

The Challenge

Detailing is an inherently visual, tactile service — hard to communicate through text alone, and without full-motion before/after footage to lean on. The challenge was making "surface care" feel hands-on through interaction design instead.

Objective

Turn a premium, appointment-based service into a bookable product with clear packages, without resorting to luxury clichés to justify the price.

Approach

I built a sequence of direct manipulation moments: a draggable inspection light revealing oxidation and water spots on a hull, a ceramic-coating reveal showing how water responds to a treated surface, and a cursor-driven teak-restoration wipe — each one letting a visitor *cause* the before/after change rather than just view it, before arriving at a guided multi-step investment estimator.

Design Direction

A deep navy, nautical palette with a single bright cyan accent for interactive elements, giving every draggable or hoverable moment a clear visual invitation to interact.

Technical Implementation

Built with semantic HTML5, modular CSS and vanilla JavaScript. The 'digital yacht passport' and investment estimator are explicitly labeled as demo experiences — the site states plainly that pricing is a preliminary estimate only and no appointment is booked through the form.

Outcome

A luxury-services concept that replaces a conventional service list with direct, hands-on interaction — letting a visitor reveal wear and restoration themselves — while keeping every price and passport figure clearly labeled as illustrative.

Lesson

Premium service interfaces communicate quality through restraint and specificity, not through gold gradients — a clear price and a firm process read as more expensive than either.
